The Swarm of Drones with Artificial Intelligence is Coming
On October 23, 2019, instagroup, a leading organization of 12 private companies, national research institutions and universities from six countries, jointly proposed the project of "sea swarm" to confuse, paralyze and destroy enemy air defense systems.
This will be part of the EU's defense research preparations to enhance cooperation among Member States. By developing the algorithm of "suppressing drone swarm", the UAV cluster can identify the characteristics of the air defense system and share the information inside, and finally make a plan to attack the enemy's defense weakness. This operational style may include blinding radar sensors, using suicide tactics to suppress enemy air defense fires, or using ammunition or electronic warfare payloads.
In the coming months, European policy makers will decide whether to allocate about $2 million to start-up projects. The joint team includes a number of sensor and hardware manufacturers, such as Deere defense of Germany and Miriam of Estonia. If the project continues, the companies will build prototypes of "drone drone colony suppression.".
